Avalon Guest House is a newly built contemporary guest house retaining much of the orignial charm and character set in a slightly elevated and seclueded position just 20 yards from the beautiful sandy cove of Maenporth, just three miles along the coast road out of Falmouth, in this picturesque part of Cornwall.
Having stayed in many Guest Houses around the country, we aim to offer the little extras that make staying with us a relaxing break 'just like coming home' -- fresh milk for your morning tea; hair dryers and irons available; daily National Newspapers (ordered for you on request); a packed lunch for your day out, should you require one; afternoon tea on your return if you feel like it and a welcome drink on arrival.
Avalon is a family run guest house having a welcoming atmosphere with the emphasis on comfort, good food and beautiful location, whether it be for just one night or longer. Arthur and Gail Shiers offer the tailored personal service of a fine hotel with the small friendly exclusivity of a 'home away from home'.
We offer four individual letting rooms, all furnished to a high level of comfort. We have two double rooms on the ground floor, the Roseland Suite and the Helford Suite, each with en-suite shower rooms and french doors onto terrace and gardens. There are also two first floor rooms, the Pendennis Suite and the Maenporth Suite, each with flexible accommodation and en-suite bathrooms. Each of these rooms have a beach view. The Pendennis Suite has a large King sized bed and single bed or three single beds with window seat overlooking the beach. The bathroom has a corner bath with hand shower attachment. The Maenporth Suite is our large luxury room suitable for a family of 4/5 or for a special occasion. It has a King sized bed and two single beds, views of the beach and refreshment tray, mini fridge, hairdryer, and individually controlled underfloor heathing.
All our rooms have an exlusive parking space, use of the gardens with vantage seating areas from which to enjoy the sea/beach views or the open woods and paths behind and lounge with comfortable sofas and woodburning stove, selection of games and newspapers together with a large television. Canoes available for hire with wetsuits and life jackets. Beach chairs and windbreaks also available.
Included in the price of your stay is our quality, varied full English breakfast with local Cornish produce or fish dish, a variety of cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit of the day and breads served in our dining room with patio overlooking the beach, and freshly brewed coffee with the newspapers in our comfortable sitting room before enjoying the sites of the area.
Travel cot or cot bed with bedding available at £10 per stay. Well behaved children welcome, as are well behaved dogs by arrangement in certain rooms. Dogs are not permitted in the dining room, or, in the summer, on the beach. We charge £10 per stay for each dog. Our dining room is open during the afternoon for tea and home made cakes for residents to enjoy. Packed lunches or Picnic hampers are available by request. Evening meals are also available by prior arrangement on request during off season times at £15 per person for two courses plus complimentary glass of wine.
